FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have never seen a psychologist before you may be wondering what to expect. Listed below are some frequently asked questions:

How long are the sessions?

50 mins. However, an hour is dedicated to the appointment, to allow time for clinician notetaking etc.

How much will it cost me?

Fees vary across different services. For more information, visit the fees page.

 

How many sessions do I need?

You can attend as many sessions as you like.  The number of sessions required will depend on the complexity of the issue and the willingness of clients to take responsibility for their own growth and progress.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. However, if you would like to receive a Medicare rebate you will require a referral from your doctor or psychiatrist. A referral enables you to access 10 rebated sessions. For more information on the Medicare rebate, visit the fees page.

Will other people know I am seeing a psychologist?

All information is confidential, unless you disclose imminent risk to yourself or someone else.  In such cases the psychologist must get help for you. If you have a referral from a doctor, then they will know if you attend this practice. However, the extent of what is disclosed to the doctor is at your discretion.

Do I need to wear a mask to therapy appointments?

No. Masks are currently optional for health care settings offering face-to-face appointments.

Do appointments have to be face-to-face?

No, Zoom and telephone appointments are available in addition to face-to-face.

When can I see a psychologist?

Current availability:  Wednesday, 9am to 5pm. Saturday, At-Home Therapy appoinments, 11am to 3pm. 

Clinical Supervision: Currently taking on supervisees needing secondary supervisor.
